Solomon says in his heart, “Come now I will test you with pleasure: enjoy yourself but behold this also was vanity.” One of the many things that life isn’t without and that is entertainment.
1) One of the greatest distractions in life is the pleasures of the heart which can lead to unfruitful ventures. The heart is thought of as being the seat of all of our affections. The scriptures say that man’s heart is a deceitful vessel. Everything that is conceived is first produced by the emotions of the heart. Jesus said it best, “Out of the abundance of the
heart the mouth speaks.” Have you ever noticed that your intentions are “heartfelt?” The
heart sends out the sensation that creates the enthusiasm to pursue.
2) Whatever excites you becomes your entertainment. The art of entertainment is to cause a
distraction and divert your attention that you might be amused in the moment. The culture
that we live in is all about being entertained. We live for it and some have even died for
it. We are consumed with many outlets that entertainment distracts us with.
3) Because of these many diversions we lose the energy to focus on what’s purposeful for our
fulfillment to evolve.
4) We exist to evolve not to be amused. Solomon makes a powerful proclamation after
recognizing the value of his experience. He says, “All was vanity.”
Be blessed,
